Weld Verdict

Emmet County Prosecuting Attorney James Linderman announced that on Friday, February 15, 2019, Defendant Jacob John Weld was found guilty in the 57th Circuit Court in Emmet County on two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree (Person Under Thirteen, Defendant 17 Years of Age or Older). The penalty for this charge is life or any term of years with a mandatory minimum of 25 years, including lifetime monitoring.

This case was handled by Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Stuart L. Fenton and investigated by the Michigan State Police.

Defendant Weld is scheduled to be sentenced on March 26, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the 57th Circuit Court for Emmet County.
