Series of informational sessions open to the public; next to be held Thursday, Sept. 29

Beginning Jan. 1, 2017, six of seven Emmet County Commissioners will be new to the Board of Commissioners. The outcomes of two of seven districts are yet to be decided in the November General Election with contested races.

To help prepare the new Commissioners and candidates, Emmet County Administrator Marty Krupa has scheduled Thursday evening educational sessions designed to provide the Commissioner candidates with information about the various departments within Emmet County.

The public is also welcome to attend these sessions. At each session, two Department Directors will share details about their department and job responsibilities.

The next evening of sessions will take place Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. in the Board meeting room of the County Building, 200 Division St., downtown Petoskey. This week’s session will be held with Dean Cosens, Community Corrections Director; the second will take place with Mary Stewart Adams, Program Director for the Headlands International Dark Sky Park.

Please note this is not an opportunity for the public to question the Department Directors on specific projects or job responsibilities, but rather an effort to provide the prospective new Commissioners and the public a chance to learn more about the functions of the approximate 25 departments within Emmet County.

If you have questions, call Krupa at (231) 348-1702 or email [email protected]
