Changes in 2020
Though our regular season of operation usually runs May 1 through Labor Day, the campground’s opening was delayed in 2020 due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The park officially opened June 8 for the 2020 season.
Rentals have resumed for the park’s cabins as well as campground sites. Health and safety restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have been put in place for guests and staff. Guidelines are posted at the park, including for use of the park’s bathhouses. Like all northern Michigan businesses and organizations, the governor’s “stay-at-home” orders in the spring created a delay in hiring for seasonal employees until the first of June. Staffing shortages across all of northern Michigan continue to put a strain on our limited staff to maintain normal operations and the additional COVID-related changes. We appreciate your patience as we make adjustments to keep our staff and visitors safe while allowing everyone to enjoy their time at Camp Petosega.
Due to the late start this season and other restrictions still in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have canceled Camp Petosega’s annual Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast. We also plan to keep the bathhouse at the beach closed for now as our focus will be on frequent cleaning and disinfecting the campground bathhouse. There may be additional changes as time goes on and we figure out our best “new normal” at Camp Petosega. Help us keep the park open all season by reading and following notices posted around the park. Be safe, be courteous of others, and have fun!
