Registration is through the Michigan Inter-governmental Trade Network System. MITN is a group of agencies that joined forces to create a Regional Bid Notification System to notify companies about new bid opportunities. To register, go to the MITN website at

I had registered with Emmet County before they joined MITN. Do I need to re-register with MITN?

Yes, vendors and bidders will receive letters from Emmet County notifying them of the conversion.

Are there fees associated with registering with MITN?

Registering with MITN is free. Vendors who would like to have access to bid opportunities from all participating agencies have two options. Go to the MITN website at and click on Register to view the fee schedule.

Who do I contact if I have questions regarding a particular bid solicitation?

Each bid solicitation will list the Emmet County Director/Purchasing Director overseeing the bid, along with their contact information. Please direct all questions to the assigned Director.

What are the business hours of Purchasing?

Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except legal holidays. Visit Purchasing on the lower level of the County Building, G92, 200 Division Street, Petoskey Michigan, 49770. Call 231.348.0627 to arrange a meeting with the Director. Meetings are encouraged, but are not a requirement of participation or winning County bids. It is generally a good idea to make yourself and the business you represent known to the Director.

What is a Request for Proposal (RFP)?

A Request for Proposal, RFP, is typically a more complex invitation to bid that contains more general specifications outlining the minimum County requirements. Bidders must submit proposals in accordance with RFP requirements.

What is a Request for Information (RFI)?

A Request for Information. RFI, is used when the County seeks help securing information only. It helps determine if a vendor can provide the desired level and type of services in a cost-effective manner.

What if my insurance documents expire during the term of my contract?

It is a breach of contract for insurance to expire during the contract term. This could result in contract termination and no payment for services rendered.
