New Assistant Prosecutor Joins the Prosecuting Attorney Staff

(July 2022) Emmet County Prosecutor Jim Linderman has announced the hiring of Elise Plancon as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney. Plancon, joined the staff on Wednesday, July 6. She moved to Petoskey from Troy, MI.

“I knew I wanted my first job out of law school to be in prosecution. I am excited to have found that job in a place I loved visiting while I was growing up.”

Plancon is a Troy, MI native. She attended Troy High School and then Michigan State University, graduating in 2017 before attending law school at Michigan State University College of Law, graduating in May 2021. While in law school, Plancon interned at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Detroit, MI. She also was a student attorney in the Low-Income Tax Clinic, and she worked at the MSU Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection Center.

Per Linderman, Elise recently passed the State Bar of Michigan after receiving her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University.  Her experience as an extern and intern has provided her with both civil and criminal experience.  “I believe attorney Plancon’s legal background and determination to learn combined with a family history of public service will provide the additional balance needed in the office.  In my opinion, the community at large will benefit from her addition to our Office since it represents our continuing desire to best serve the public by hiring the most suitable attorneys available to work in the Office.” Plancon will focus on probate cases that include juvenile delinquency and abuse and neglect.

Plancon played women’s hockey for Michigan State University. In her free time, she enjoys playing hockey, skiing, and boating.
