Snapshot of Drivers’ Logs

EMGO, the three-bus expansion of public transit in Emmet County, began operation on January 2, 2019 and functioned mostly as a dial-a-ride service during the first year of operation. The service is contracted from Cheboygan County’s Straits Regional Ride transit which does not have currently have software in place that would provide Emmet County officials with ridership reports. Therefore, Emmet County officials collected the handwritten driver run sheets from all of August 2019, September 2019, October 2019, and November 2019 to try to gain a better understanding of how EMGO buses were being used. Those logs include 4565 entries (rides), transporting 4847 riders during those four months. Two members of the Petoskey Club transcribed the handwritten drivers’ logs and entered the information into spreadsheets.

In early 2020, the entries, often very basic, were expanded by looking up each address and, if available, adding other information (such as the business/organization name). Listed below are those drivers’ logs. Each file includes all the same information from that Aug-Nov 2019 time period, but each file has the information sorted and presented in a different way to offer a wider view of how the service was used during that time. Though the files below are PDFs (sized as 8.5×14, if printed out), the Excel spreadsheet is available as well. Please email [email protected] with any questions and/or to request a copy of the Excel file.
