Election Results November 2019

    Tuesday’s local election results are in with all 23 precincts now reporting.
    (Please note that all results are unofficial until they are certified by the county board of canvassers.)
    There were 6,204 ballots cast and eight ballots left blank in the Nov. 5 general election. With 28,995 registered voters in Emmet County, 21.4% voted in Tuesday’s election.
    The proposal on all Emmet County precinct ballots asking voters to decide whether to replace the current millage that funds Emmet County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) passed with 58.45% of ballots cast voting yes.
    The two Carp Lake Township millage renewals, one to help fund roads and the other to fund fire protection services, also passed. Each ballot proposal was approved by 76.19% of Carp Lake Township voters.
    In the City of Petoskey mayoral race, incumbant John Murphy received 57.04% of the votes to defeat challenger Reg Smith’s 42.71% of ballots cast.
    In the race for Harbor Springs City Council, the two candidates receiving the most votes will serve on the council. John C. Cupps had 41.81% with John Lio receiving 30.56% to earn a return back on the council. Al Dika got 27.63% of the vote.
    Kate Marshall was the only candidate on the ballot for Ward 1 of Petoskey City Council and received a vote from 93.45% of voters.
    Brian Wagner received a vote on 98.02% of ballots cast for Petoskey City Council Ward 3. He was the only candidate running in Ward 3.
