Drug Drop-Off ‘POD’ Program

NOTICE – THIS PROGRAM IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC. It will resume again when the office lobby areas are reopened. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause.

The Prescription and Over-the-Counter Drug Drop-Off (POD) program in Emmet County is successfully removing medications from the waste stream, while keeping harmful drugs out of the hands of users and abusers. While drugs can not currently be collected for redistribution or recycling, in Northern Michigan we are fortunate to have the best available legal option: drop-off boxes at area law enforcement agencies.

NOTE: SYRINGES ARE NOT ACCEPTED AT ANY DROP LOCATION!

Drop-off boxes are available year-round during regular public hours, including at the Sheriff’s Offices downtown Petoskey and on M-119. More information about the POD program in northern Michigan is listed at Emmet County Recycling website. For information on drug disposal options in other counties, visit PillsInThePod.com.
