LOCATION: Emmet County Building, downtown Petoskey
RATE OF PAY: $18.02/hr

POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of Deputy Clerk serves under the County Clerk. This position specializes in jury administration. In addition, this position is to serve the public for all functions as provided for under Michigan Law as duties of the County Clerk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Works closely with the judges from Circuit Court, District Court, and Probate court, with an emphasis on maintenance of jurors for these courts
• Responsible for preparing summons, jury payments, jury reimbursements, correspondence and questionnaires
• Work with the Jury Board, which is appointed by the Board of Commissioners
• Works closely with the public by administering oaths, collection of payments, answering and processing phone calls, filing, providing the services of a notary, photocopying, record retrieval, file creation, and data input into various computer systems
• Communicates daily with the public, various governmental agencies, law enforcement agencies, the legal community, and multiple County offices
• Assists in processing Circuit Court, civil and criminal files by; intakes new case files, assigning docket numbers, collecting required filing fees, timestamping and acceptance of pleadings, and filing of said documents
• Acts as the first step in personal protection order process
• Responsible for CPL permit applications and fingerprint applications as requested by the public

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience of 1 year in an office environment desired
