ACCOUNTING PROCESSES MANAGER
POSITION: Accounting Processes Manager
DEPARTMENT: Accounting and Finance Department
SUPERVISOR: Finance Director
LOCATION: Emmet County Building
RATE OF PAY: $53,000 – $65,000 annually
POSITION SUMMARY:
This newly-created position, which replaces two eliminated positions, will serve as an important part of the Accounting and Finance Department team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
• Reconciles County bank statements
• Performs calculations to produce analysis and reports as requested by the Finance Director. This will include information prepared for Board of Commissioners submission
• Assist Department heads in reconciling to the general ledger
• Collects and enters data for various financial spreadsheets, reconciles discrepancies/errors and audits financial statements and reports to ensure calculations and data entries are correct
• Works with Finance Director to ensure proper accounting for asset impairments
• Monitors grant expenditures for compliance with the grant specifications
• Submits monthly/quarterly grant reporting requirements
• Maintains county asset program to include additions and retirement
• Reviews purchase requisitions for policy consistency, availability of funds, determine if an RFP or RFQ are required and ensures that sole source requirements are met
• Maintains internal protocols for specific vendors in compliance with the County’s purchasing policy
• Provides training to Department heads on purchasing and receiving related to the financial software system
• Monitors compliance by Departments with established internal control policies
• Assists with yearly audit and other duties as assigned

• Proficiency in spreadsheet compilations and analysis

• Effective communications skills; ability to communicate both strategically and tactically to all levels of the organization
• 1-2 years of experience composing, administering and auditing internal control policies and processes
• Demonstrated knowledge of fund accounting
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• BA in accounting preferred
• Associates degree required (may exchange years of relevant experience for education requirement)
• 3-5 years of general accounting experience
• 2 years minimum fund accounting
• Some previous experience in purchasing preferred
