Emmet County currently has an opening for a Corrections Officer. The Corrections Officer reports to the Jail Administrator and is responsible for the safety and Security of the inmates of the Emmet County Correctional Facility. The successful candidate will perform inmate intakes and calculates outdates. They are also responsible for entering court warrants, probation orders, bond conditions, and contacting other agencies as necessary. Corrections Officers perform cell checks, and checks other areas of the Facility. They may transport inmates to and from Doctor visits, attorney offices, or classes as required. They also will answer phone calls and other inquiries from the public, probation officer, road/city officer, parole, and courts. They will maintain the safety and the security of the facility, inmates, employees, and the public by handling disputes and situations as needed.
The successful candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent as well as possess a valid driver’s license. CPR, first aid, and AED certification required. Also required, 160-hour State Corrections certification. Training in Taser, pepper spray and P.P.C.T preferred. Applicants with prior felony convictions need not apply.
