Reserve your campsite online now and join us for one of our super fun Halloween Weekends on Saturday, October 7, or on Saturday, October 14! Park staff will be giving an award to the Best Decorated Campsite so campers are encouraged to spruce up their sites to get in the Halloween spirit! Trick-or-treating will take place from 5-7 p.m. with vehicle traffic restricted during that time through the campground. Emmet County Parks and Recreation staff will have free hot dogs, chips, and drinks near the campground office followed by a free Haunted Trail open 7-9 p.m. All activities are weather-permitting and the general public is welcome to come out and join in the fun! FUNDING FOR CDBG CHILL PROGRAM
Emmet County will conduct a public hearing on November 6, 2023 at 6:00 pm at Board of Commissioner’s Board Room, County Building, 200 Division Street, Petoskey, MI for the purpose of affording citizens an opportunity to examine and submit comments on the proposed application for a CDBG grant.
Emmet County proposes to use $500,000 of CDBG funds to expand and increase the efforts of housingbrehabilitation, preserving affordable housing units, and demolition/reconstruction/resale to remove blight with single-family housing for resale to income eligible homebuyers. Homeowners may receive up to
$40,000 to address health and safety concerns and maintenance issues. Up to $200,000 is available per unit for demolition/redevelopment/resale.
Further information, including a copy of Emmet County’s community development plan and CDBG application is available for review. Brownfield Plan for Maple Block Flats
Emmet County Board of Commissioners
A public hearing will be held by the Emmet County Board of Commissioners on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Emmet County Building on the Brownfield Plan for Maple Block Flats, in accordance with Public Act 381 of 1996, as amended.
The Brownfield Plan describes the public purpose and qualifying factors for determining the site as an Eligible Property, the Eligible Activities and estimated costs that are proposed for reimbursement through future tax increment capture, the impacts of tax increment financing, and other project factors. The proposed project will redevelop the former Michigan Maple Block site, bounded by Standish Avenue and the Bear River, for 204 residential units, with 102 units available to moderate income households.
At the public hearing all citizens, taxpayers and representatives or officials from any taxing jurisdiction shall be afforded the opportunity to be heard regarding all aspects of the Brownfield Plan.
Maps, plats (if applicable) and the Brownfield Plan are available for public inspection on the County’s website at www.emmetcounty.org and at the Emmet County Planning and Zoning Department at 3434 Harbor-Petoskey Road, (M-119) in Harbor Springs.

The Emmet County Fairgrounds will be hosting the annual Handmade Holiday Craft Show benefiting Brother Dan’s Food Pantry, from 9 AM to 4 PM on Saturday, November 18. The Community Building will host local vendors featuring handmade items for sale just in time for the holiday season. Brother Dan’s will be collecting admission and concession sales to benefit feeding local families. Admission is $2 or a non-perishable food items.
