The Emmet County Zoning Board of Appeals will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the commissioners’ board room, across from the treasurer’s office, on the first floor of the County Building in downtown Petoskey, 200 Division Street. The meeting is open to the public. Those attending in-person must enter through the Lake Street doors and be prepared to pass through a metal detector and security check. DUE TO NEAR ZERO TEMPERATURES FORECAST FOR SATURDAY, THIS EVENT WILL BE HELD ON SUNDAY, FEB. 20, FROM NOON TILL 4 PM! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO OTHERS WHO HAD PLANNED TO ATTEND ON SATURDAY.
Emmet County Parks and Recreation is partnering with volunteers from Friends of Oden Fish Hatchery Visitor Center to host the annual free Ice Fishing Day for Kids at Camp Pet-o-se-ga. The event takes place Saturday, Feb. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. and coincides with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources’ free fishing weekend. Kids in kindergarten through eighth grade along with their parents or guardians are welcome to join us for an afternoon of ice fishing and fun.
We supply the fishing gear and bait while parents supply the warmly dressed kids. Please note that parents must remain with their children throughout the event. Volunteers from Friends of the Oden Fish Hatchery Visitor Center will be helping kids with baiting and fishing.
Participants will be able to get warmed up in the campground Rec Hall with free snacks and hot cocoa. If the outside temperature (including wind chill factor) is below zero degrees, the event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 20.

Join us for dinner as we honor Emmet County’s Veterans. The event will take place on April 14, 2020 from 5-7pm in North Central Michigan College. This is a free event for Veterans.
