Join Emmet County Parks and Recreation staff Saturday, February 8, from 4-6 p.m., for a painting class with Cheboygan’s Creation Station as they guide us through painting our own masterpiece.
Cost to participate is $35 per person and includes all materials and step-by-step instructions. No painting experience is necessary. Bring your own choice of snacks and drinks to enjoy while you paint.
As space for the class is limited, pre-registration is required. Sign up now at Creation Station’s website or call (231) 268-3059. Payment is due at time of reservation to guarantee your seat. Credit card accepted by phone and online.

Emmet County Parks and Recreation is partnering with volunteers from Friends of Oden Fish Hatchery Visitor Center to host our annual free Ice Fishing Day for Kids at Camp Pet-o-se-ga located in Alanson. The event takes place Saturday, Feb. 15, from noon to 4 p.m. and coincides with the Michigan Department of National Resources’s free fishing weekend. Kids in kindergarten through eighth grade along with their parents or guardians are welcome to join us for an afternoon of ice fishing and fun.
We supply the fishing gear and bait while parents supply the warmly dressed kids. Please note that parents must remain with their children throughout the event. Volunteers from Friends of the Oden Fish Hatchery Visitor Center will be helping kids with baiting and fishing.
Participants will be able to get warmed up in the campground Rec Hall with free hot dogs, snacks and hot cocoa. If the outside temperature (including wind chill factor) is below zero degrees, the event will be held on Sunday, Feb. 16.
