Did you know the disk of our galaxies is warped? Have you ever wondered what the night sky will look like in the distant future? In this presentation, Rod Cortright, NASA/JPL Ambassador, will summarize discoveries made by the Gaia space observatory.
This space observatory has been on station for nine years now. Its mission is to create a three-dimensional star map of the Milky Way galaxy to answer questions about our galaxy’s composition, formation, and evolution. Since this is a hands-on workshop, it will require suitable photographing conditions. Therefore, participants will need to have flexible schedules. If conditions are unfavorable on Wednesday evening, the workshop will be rescheduled for Thursday or Friday evening of that week. Watch the Headlands Facebook page for rescheduling information.
At minimum, participants must bring a DSLR or Mirrorless camera and a tripod to this workshop.

(This event is hosted by Northern Michigan Astronomy Club and presented by Mick Groszko, who is a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassadors. In that capacity, they both do outreach activities for NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.)
