2017-05-04: Sheriff Press Release

On Thursday, May 4, 2017, the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office received information from Emmet County Probation and Parole, that one of their parole subjects, Roger Lee Milbrandt Jr., age 45, Pellston, Michigan, had removed his tether and was in possession of a stolen license plate, according to Sheriff Wallin.  Officials with Probation asked for assistance from the Sheriff’s Office in locating Milbrandt.  Milbrandt was supposed to be driving a 2008 maroon Pontiac Grand Prix.  On Friday, May 5, 2017, at approximately 12:30 p.m., deputies located Milbrandt driving the 2008 Grand Prix, on Van Rd., Center Twp. and attempt to stop him, but Milbrandt took off at high speed.  The chase was called off due to the high speeds Milbrandt was driving at.   At approximately 2:50 p.m. later that afternoon, deputies located Milbrandt again driving the 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix in the parking lot of the Cross Village General Store.  Again, the deputies attempted to stop Milbrandt, but he took off eastbound on Levering Roads at high speeds.  The chase was called off again due to the high speeds and because the local school districts were letting students out from school.  Milbrandt was located on Saturday, May 6, 2017, parked on Abrams Rd., Cross Village Township, and taken in to custody.  Milbrandt remains lodged in the Emmet County Jail.  Milbrandt has been charged with four felony counts – 2 counts of Fleeing a Police Officer Third Degree, one count of License Documents/Plates – Forgery, and one count of Tampering with Electronic Monitoring Device.  Milbrandt also was charged with two misdemeanor counts- one count of Operating a Motor Vehicle without Security and one county of Operating – License Suspended, Revoked, Denied.  Bond has been set at $25,000.00.
