Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Britton selected as ‘Deputy of the Year’

Deputy Ben Britton was chosen as the 2016 Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and Walloon Lake Association “Deputy of the Year.”  The award was presented last week at Boyne Mountain. According to Sheriff Pete Wallin, Britton was chosen based on the following: How he represents the Sheriff’s Office; his fair and impartial treatment of the people he deals with on a daily basis; and recognition of both the statutory and judicial limitations of police authority and the Constitutional rights of all people.

Deputy Britton was hired by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office in December 2009. He currently works as a Deputy in the Corrections Division, holds positions on the CERT (Corrections Emergency Response Team), Dive Team and has held the temporary position of Supervisor/Corporal. Britton was selected as Corrections Deputy of the Year  for 2012 among the staff.

Britton is married to his wife, Emily, who works in the Emmet County Prosecutor’s Office, as a legal secretary. They are proud parents of daughter, Charlie.
