Sheriff Wallin elected Secretary-Treasurer of Michigan Sheriffs’ Association 2017 Board of Directors

The Michigan Sheriffs’ Association (MSA) announces that it has unanimously elected Sheriff Pete Wallin of Emmet County to serve as the Secretary-Treasurer of its Board of Directors for the 2017 term, which begins January 1.  He was sworn in by Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Young at the Michigan Sheriffs’ Association 2016 Fall Professional Development Conference.

“There is no greater honor than to be chosen by your peers to be their leader,” said MSA Executive Director Terrence L. Jungel. “Sheriff Wallin has earned the respect of his fellow Sheriffs as is evident by his selection to the Secretary-Treasurer position. His leadership comes at an important time in the Association’s and state’s history as we change both the Association and National leadership.”

Board officers elected at the Fall Conference include President Tim Donnellon, Sheriff of St. Clair County; Vice President L. Paul Bailey of Berrien County; and Secretary-Treasurer Pete Wallin of Emmet County. Immediate Past President of the statewide association is Crawford County Sheriff Kirk Wakefield. Other Sheriffs elected to serve on the Board include Iron County Sheriff Mark Valesano, Midland County Sheriff Scott Stephenson and Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki.

The Michigan Sheriffs’ Association was established in 1877 to represent the state’s 83 elected Sheriffs and is the oldest Law Enforcement Organization in Michigan.  For more information or to join as a citizen member, please visit our website at www.misheriff.org.
