North Country Sky to provide air service from the main terminal as it tests the local market
A new operator will be providing air service from Pellston Regional Airport (PLN) in the summer of 2015, offering flights from PLN to Chicago’s Midway Airport at competitive prices. Public Charters Inc., DBA North Country Sky, is a public charter aircraft service that will operate from Pellston’s main terminal building, utilizing commuter aircraft and baggage claim services similar to Delta’s daily operations, said Kelley Atkins, Pellston Regional Airport Manager. “I look forward to this opportunity to work with North Country Sky and I’m excited for the community -- this is much-needed service,” Atkins said.
Sky’s general manager, Jim Gallagher, said the flights will begin on June 25 and run through Aug. 19. One flight per day will be available Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday each week and ticket prices will range from $350 to $405 round-trip per person. The aircraft is a 30-seat turbo prop with a flight attendant and lavatory. Gallagher said total travel time to Chicago, including the brief stop in Manistee, will be about one hour and 50 minutes.
