Snowfall boosts trail use at Headlands, Petosega
The recent snowfall in Emmet County has helped improve the trail networks at the Headlands park in Mackinaw City and at Camp Pet-O-Se-Ga in Alanson.
Shelly House, manager of the Headlands and its 600-acres along the Lake Michigan shoreline, said in recent days the area finally received enough snow for good cross-country skiing. "The trails were freshly groomed with a set of classical tracks last night for those Nordic lovers," she added.
The Headlands has about 5 miles of trails winding through the acreage for nonmotorized use. There are about 4 miles of trails at Petosega. There is no admission fee at either park for trail use. For more information, call (231) 348-1704 or email bpiehl@emmetcounty.org
