Mackinac Bridge

Two Emmet County staff members recently had the opportunity to climb the South Tower of the Mackinac Bridge, in preparation for a feature story on this magnificent Northern Michigan landmark for the 2015 issue of the County’s Imagine magazine.

Wearing a GoPro camera, Emmet County IT Director Gary Appold recorded the climbing experience and it provides a unique, first-person look at the maze of ladders and portals that must be navigated to reach the top (and the very small elevator that brings visitors about 300 feet straight up, leaving about 40 feet left to climb inside). Gary was joined by Imagine editor and County Communications Director Beth Anne Eckerle for the experience.
