The presentations given by Emmet County, Michigan Department of Transportation and other area governmental officials on July 13 regarding access management on U.S. 31 and M-119 are available here for download.

The public was invited to attend educational workshops and offer input for an ongoing study of traffic considerations along several segments of the two highway corridors. Officials are in the beginning stage of an access management plan for these areas.

Working jointly on the study are Bear Creek Township, City of Petoskey, Emmet County, Michigan Department of Transportation, Emmet County Road Commission and the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians, with assistance from the Northwest Michigan Council of Governments.
Another public input session is scheduled for 6 p.m. Sept. 15. A location has not yet been determined.

Emmet County Planning, Zoning and Construction Resource Director Brentt Michalek said a report will be issued in 2011 on the study’s findings. He encourages businesses along the corridors and others with ideas for traffic improvements to offer their input during this planning phase.
