July 20: Public Hearing Followed by Special Meeting
Public Hearing on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 5:45 p.m. to amend the 2017 Budget, in the Board of Commissioners Room, 200 Division Street, Petoskey, Michigan. Immediately following the public hearing will be a Special Meeting of the Emmet County Board of Commissioners to act on Amended Budget.
Weekly Tours of Emmet County’s New Waterfront Event Center at the Headlands International Dark Sky Park
Can’t wait for dark skies or scheduled programs to visit Emmet County’s new Waterfront Event Center at the Headlands International Dark Sky Park? We invite you to take a tour with us - view the facility, check out the grounds, peek at the telescope, and ask questions! Tours are on-going every Thursday between noon and 5 pm. Reservations are not necessary. Drive in, use the main parking lot, and join us in the lobby just off the main entrance to the Waterfront Event Center at the Headlands on the lake side of the building (so you can approach us from our best side!). PUBLIC NOTICE: COMMITTEE ON AGING 2018 APPLICATION
THE EMMET COUNTY COMMITTEE ON AGING will be accepting applications for funds available to be used to provide services for senior citizens in Emmet County for Year 2018. The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, July 31, 2017 at 5:00 P.M. at the Emmet County Clerk’s Office located at 200 Division Street Petoskey, Michigan.

Local Revenue Sharing Board Awards Spring 2017 Funding Cycle
The Local Revenue Sharing Board recently announced grant awards for the Spring funding cycle 2017. In total, the board awarded $72,500 to fulfill all or a portion of 13 different funding requests. Under its compact with the state of Michigan, the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians is required to give 2 percent of net revenues from its electronic gaming operations at Odawa Casino to the regional community. Funding priorities of the LRSH have been public safety, recreation and education. Applicants must be sponsored by a local taxing authority in order to apply for grants. In total, the LRSB considered funding requests totaling $162,583.62 from 17 different entities.
HISTORICAL COMMISSION MEETING LOCATION CHANGED
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the location of the Emmet County Historical Commission meeting set for 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 is changed from the Emmet County Airport to the Barn at the McGulpin Point Lighthouse in Mackinaw City.
